If you have kids around Easter than you might want to keep them busy right? Well today we have a super simple woven Easter basket that the kids can help you make for your Easter table. Fill them with treats and chocolates and add a name tag.
I used my favourite Green Chartreuse Lady Pattern Paper to weave my little basket, which makes my speckled eggs look they are hidden in some lush green grass – simply gorgeous.
To weave your basket…
Cut 8 x strips of patterned paper measuring 1 inch wide x 12 inches long.
Cut 4 x strips of patterned paper measuring 1 inch wide x 12 inches long.
Cut 1 x strip pf patterned paper 1 inch wide x 11 inches long.
Score the 8 x strips at the following intervals: 3”, 6” and 9”. Cut off the strip at the 9” mark.
Start weaving the 8 strips together to form the base of your basket. I use a small amount of adhesive to hold the strips in place.
Once the base is done, repeat the steps and weave the sides of your basket. Remember to add small dots of adhesive to hold it in place.
Once done, trim any bits that may not be perfect using your scissors. Adhere the 11 inch long strip inside of the basket for the handle. Add a barcode strip trimmed off of the bottom of the paper to the handle for added interest. Adhere paper flowers and punched flowers to the sides of the basket. Tie a bow around the handle.
