When my son started Grade 1 we took a photo of him on a seesaw in the park, so on the last day of Grade 7, he gamely posed for his last day of primary school!

The school colours are blue and gold, so I used the closest cardstock colours to mat the photo on. I chose the background paper Betty Brick Dazzling Blue as an ode to Pink Floyd’s “Another brick in the wall” and then stamped various appropriate words onto the hello CARDS Mellow Yellow. I used two sheets of paper, but if I had thought it through properly, I would have just turned the sheet over to get the patterns on the other side! I was so engrossed in the moment, that it just didn’t occur to me!
I used some of the stickers from the sticker sheet and Inked all my embellishments with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. The lettering was from some very old chipboard stash and the word Grade 7 was cut on my Silhouette and the school badge came off his blazer and I figured I might as well scrap his tie as it was so badly worn out, it could not go to the second-hand store! I think that these things bring a nice realistic touch to the layout.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw one of Belinda’s projects. It was mixed media, it was steampunk, it was layered, inked & exceptionally unique. For me, it was love at first sight.
