I decided to try shooting a video of my process of designing a page. I Have not done a voice over as I think it is fairly explanatory. The only part you might wonder about is where I cut a piece out of the back of the dark blue mat…this is because that is the only sheet I have of the dotty paper in that colour and I want to use it on some other school pages!
When my son started Grade 1 we took a photo of him on a seesaw in the park, so on the last day of Grade 7, he gamely posed for his last day of primary school!
⇐ Grade 1 Photo!
The school colours are blue and gold, so I used the closest cardstock colours to mat the photo on. I chose the background paper Betty Brick Dazzling Blue as an ode to Pink Floyd’s “Another brick in the wall” and then stamped various appropriate words onto the hello CARDS Mellow Yellow. I used two sheets of paper, but if I had thought it through properly, I would have just turned the sheet over to get the patterns on the other side! I was so engrossed in the moment, that it just didn’t occur to me!
I used some of the stickers from the sticker sheet and Inked all my embellishments with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. The lettering was from some very old chipboard stash and the word Grade 7 was cut on my Silhouette and the school badge came off his blazer and I figured I might as well scrap his tie as it was so badly worn out, it could not go to the second-hand store! I think that these things bring a nice realistic touch to the layout.
