I love washi tape and use it really a lot on my cards and in my scrapbooking. So what’s a girl to do when you have loads of paper strips from other projects and in need of a specific colour of washi tape – well you make your own. I know this is a done before technique but it remains one of my favourite things to do, and since I have loads of paper strips in my stash, I might as well use it in a creative way.
Here’s how I created my Lady Pattern Paper washi tape…
Cut a variety of paper strip or use what you have. Combine different colours and patterns together.
Adhere clear sellotape to the front of the paper design you want to be visible.
Use your bone folder and burnish the tape really well to make sure it adheres well to the paper. Trim the paper strips to the width of your sellotape.
Soak the paper strips in lukewarm water until the paper starts to get soft. Then lightly rub the paper between your fingers until the paper comes off and the design stays behind on the sticky part of the sellotape.
Dry the paper strips and see how they become transparent when you overlap them onto other paper strips.
And there you have some really stunning Lady Pattern Paper washi tapes to match your next project or layout – and you get to use all those beautiful barcodes and left-overs.
