I am always inspired by the beautiful colours of the Lady Pattern Paper range of papers. This week is a blue, teal and green kind of week. Part of the inspiration for this altered mini album cover was the journal page I created and then started cutting up the beautiful textured pieces to use in a different way – and I love how this project turned out.
Altered Mini Album Cover - Main

For me it is the simple things that inspire, or that colour combination that triggers something else. And that is exactly how this project came about.

I used the Lady Pattern Paper as my colour inspiration, but to also add pattern and texture, and the beautiful textures of different materials to create a visually interesting album cover.

Step 1

Create an artistic sheet of watercolour paper using different mediums like ribbon, stencilling, paint etc.

Step 2

Cut the prepared piece of paper into strips. Adhere the strips to a piece of cardboard create the size of your mini-album. I used gel medium to adhere my strips.

Step 3

In the open spaced where the strips do not meet up, add some dimensional glaze and sprinkle with micro beads. Leave the glaze to dry to adhere the beads. Then shake off the excess and return to the container.

Step 4

Punch large daisy flowers from Lady Pattern Paper. Ink the edges.

Step 5

Adhere the flowers to the front cover using 3D matte gel. Layer some of the flowers to create a two tone effect with dimension.

Cut out some additional flowers from the Lucy Lace patterned Kraft paper. Adhere the flowers inside the punched flowers using foam tape.

You’ve created an altered mini album cover and now you are ready to create the inside pages of your mini album. How will you be inspired by colour and texture for your next project?
